High-temperature resistant clothing

Visitors walking through the aisles of Fisp and Fire Show will find the main innovations and new products in the high-temperature resistant clothing segment.

One of the companies specialized in this segment is Suprema Luvas, which brought its entire line of aluminized products to this edition of the event: shirts, pants, aprons, hoods, protectors, gloves, helmets… “Our main clients are steel mills, metallurgy plants, in other words, industries involved in high-temperature production,” highlights Nathália Rufino, Suprema’s commercial manager. The highlight goes to the aluminized gloves with an aramid palm, capable of withstanding up to 800º C in contact temperature and up to 1600 ºC of radiant heat (without contact).

Already Thermal protective clothing can be divided into two categories: short-duration fire protection – also called flash fire – and arc flash clothing, that is, PPE to protect against electrical discharges, which generate high temperatures and can cause fires.

“Think of someone working on an oil rig, an extraction field, a chemical plant. And, on the other hand, you have the risk of an electric arc. We at Dupont work in Brazil by supplying the raw material for the production of PPE that is essential for these professionals, which is Nomex Comfort fabric, focused on fire protection, and Nomex Essential Arc, more focused on electric arc,” highlights Eduardo Moreira, technical manager for Dupont's entire Nomex line in Latin America.

Another company specialized in the manufacture of personal protective equipment is JGB. Most of the company's product line exhibited at this 24th edition of Fisp is targeted at high temperatures. These are PPEs for firefighting, thermal risks, protection against metal splashes, radiant heat, protection of electricians against electric arc, and flash fire.

“The market in Brazil, and everyone, in fact, does not have specific PPE for women. This has never been an agenda for the market and we decided to raise this flag at Fisp and Fire Show by bringing PPE with specific sizing for women, pregnant women, and people with disabilities, maintaining all the technology and protection required by law, highlights Marlon Vacario, technical salesperson at JGB.
