Urban Infrastructure – 10/06/2016
The material from the excavations of the Nova Tamoios Contornos, on the North Coast of São Paulo, was donated by Desenvolvimento Rodoviário S/A (Dersa) for the paving of streets in the cities of Caraguatatuba and São Sebastião, where the works are being carried out. There are about 16.5 thousand tons of waste destined for the repair of sections in precarious condition.
In February of this year alone, eight trucks were sent, each carrying 22 tons of material that will also help repair the bridge on Rua Nova Iguaçu, which was damaged by the heavy rains in Maresias. Other neighborhoods that benefited were Itatinga, Topolândia, Topovaradouro, and Canto do Mar and Pontal, in São Sebastião, and Pegorelli, in Caraguatatuba.
According to Dersa's construction manager, Pedro Paulo Campos, the action contributes to saving the State Government money. “These donations avoid the work of taking all the material to a landfill, which generates costs,” he states.
The Nova Tamoios Contornos project consists of four sections, two in Caraguatatuba and two in São Sebastião. It will provide a new route to both cities, with an investment of R$ 3.2 billion from the São Paulo state government.
