At Fisp, DuPont presents protective equipment lines featuring the effectiveness and comfort of Nomex®, Kevlar®, Tychem® and Tyvek® materials

Equipment covers all industries that need maximum protection against splashes, vapors, cuts, punctures, electric arc and flames. Event runs from October 3 to 5 at São Paulo Expo.

São Paulo, September 2018– For workers in the chemical, petroleum, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as firefighters and production line workers, such as those working in painting or maintenance, DuPont's safety and construction division presents in FISP – International Safety and Protection Faira complete line of protective equipment. The new products will be on display from October 3 to 5 at the São Paulo Expo, at the company's booth.

The solutions are developed in Nomex®, Kevlar®, Tychem® and Tyvek® and are expected to be available on the market in early 2019. To the fair, the company brings a paintball booth, with a mannequin in the back that, through shot marking, compares the effectiveness of Tyvek® with other fabrics for chemical protection. Thermal protection solutions

In the field of thermal protection, DuPont is launching DuPont™ Nomex® balaclavas for face and head protection. There are two models: one designed for protection against flames, and the other for Category 2 electric arcs. They are made of 100% Nomex®, which ensures high protection as well as a high level of comfort and durability. “This type of item isn’t very common in workers” daily routines, but it protects extremely sensitive areas, such as the neck, head, and face,” says Ariana Bottura, marketing manager for the Nomex® brand in Latin America. The products are currently undergoing certification and are scheduled to launch early next year in gray and blue.

In addition to balaclavas, DuPont is developing equipment through partnerships. Uniluvas gloves, made with Kevlar® and Nomex®, can be used by workers who need mechanical protection, cut and puncture resistance, and resistance to high or low temperatures. They are ideal for various industries, such as glass, mining, civil construction, metallurgy, steelmaking, agroindustry, automotive, transportation, sweeping and garbage collection, loading and unloading of frozen materials, in cold rooms, among other areas.

Danny Luvas is also presenting a new line that combines Kevlar® yarn with other high-performance solutions, bringing a revolution in mechanical and thermal hazard protection to the market.

Chemical protection solutions

In the chemical protection area, DuPont is showcasing seven solutions at its booth. Among them are ProShield® 20 SFR garments, made from a non-halogenated, flame-retardant polypropylene SMS nonwoven fabric, which provides limited protection against flame spread, in addition to protection against particles and water-based liquid splashes or sprays. This equipment is used in a wide range of applications, including the petrochemical and railway industries, welding applications, and the gas and metal industries.

The Tyvek® 400 Dual combines Tyvek® with an SMS nonwoven fabric. The front, developed with Tyvek®, offers an ideal balance of protection, durability, and comfort. It is permeable to air and water vapor, but repels liquids and aerosols. In addition, it offers an excellent barrier against fine particles.

Another new product on the Brazilian market is the Tyvek® 500 HV, a coverall model without a hood and with a collar, available in fluorescent orange, featuring reflective bands for greater nighttime and daytime visibility. It provides great freedom of movement for the user without compromising safety. It offers a barrier against particles and fibers, in addition to featuring an internal antistatic treatment. Its applications include work on railways, roads, mining, waste handling, undergrounds, ports, airports, and construction.

Tyvek® 800J features heat-sealed seams and offers chemical protection for types 3, 4, 5, and 6, in accordance with ISO 16,602 standards. They are ideal for operations involving low concentrations of water-based inorganic chemicals, including under pressure. The coveralls are soft, comfortable, and lightweight, without compromising durability levels.

Tychem® 6000 FR coveralls combine the chemical protection of this fiber with the flame protection of Nomex® in a single-layer garment. The equipment offers at least 30 minutes of protection against more than 180 chemical challenges, in addition to protection against electric arc and flash fires.

The Tychem® 6000 F FaceSeal is a coverall from the Tychem® line that offers several innovative features, including a rubber seal around the mask, a tight fit without adhesive tape, attached gloves for continuous chemical protection, and full body protection. It can be worn for a longer time, provides greater comfort, requires no specific training for respiratory equipment, and requires no maintenance.

We also introduce Tychem® 2000 SFR, which provides an effective barrier against a wide range of chemicals, as well as secondary flame resistance. This product is a reliable protection not only against an infinity of inorganic acids and bases, but also against various industrial cleaning formulations.

New nomenclature

DuPont is taking advantage of its participation in FISP to inform the market of its new identification system for garments made with Proshield®, Tyvek® and Tychem® fibers. The original names have been replaced by new identifications based on numerical classification. Thus, the higher the number received by the garment, the greater its level of protection, identified on the label of each item.

The packaging has been redesigned to reflect the new image of the brands. ProShield® product seals will be identified in gray; Tyvek®, blue; and Tychem®, orange. “Thus, the higher the number received by the suit, the greater its level of protection. The packaging has also been redesigned to reflect the new image of the brands,” explains Etore Frederici, marketing manager for the Tyvek® brand in Latin America.

Fisp is organized and promoted by Cipa Fiera Milano in partnership with Abraseg – Brazilian Association of Distributors and Importers of Occupational Safety and Protection Equipment and Products, Animaseg – National Association of the Occupational Safety and Protection Equipment Industry, and Sindiseg – Union of the Safety Material Industry.
