New rescue solutions in buildings during emergencies are presented at Fisp

New features include a stairlift and autonomous equipment
that withstand high temperatures, photoluminescent signage, and a panic button

SSão Paulo, September 2018– ABNT standard 9077 addresses emergency exits in buildings and establishes that routes intended for use by people with reduced mobility must have ramps and safety elevators or other devices where there is a difference in level between floors. Exhibitors of FISP – International Safety and Protection Fair, which takes place from October 3 to 5 at the São Paulo Expo, focused precisely on these “other devices” to present their rescue solutions.

Lince, for example, will launch an evacuation chair that offers safety and accessibility to wheelchair users, pregnant women, and unconscious individuals in situations where elevators cannot be used, such as fires or blackouts. “It is the only one in the world that features a chest harness and also allows descent via a belt system that ensures smooth and safe sliding down steps. The equipment can be operated by a single person, features self-braking and flame-retardant fabric,” states Thomas Fiedler, the company's commercial manager.

Honeywell, in turn, invested in respiratory protection with complete self-contained equipment, such as SCBAs, and escape equipment, such as EBAs. However, the main highlight will be the T8000, which features differentials such as cost-effectiveness, ergonomics, and lightweight design, as the cylinder is made of carbon fiber and the harness is made of flame-retardant material, making it ideal for rescue situations in high temperatures. It also features a buddy-system connection, allowing for more efficient and safer rescues. The company will also showcase the Durahoist, which allows for anchorage in confined spaces during high-angle rescue, as well as the QuickPick and SafEscape, which are also focused on high-angle rescue and have great application in the wind energy sector.

TAG Sinalização will showcase its new signs for fire-fighting equipment and photoluminescent signs for fire-fighting, escape routes, prohibition, and warning—indications that can save lives in various types of emergencies. “All products have compliance certification with ABNT NBR 13434,” highlights Kleber de Castro Gonçalves, director of the company, which is an associate of ABNT, ABPP (Brazilian Association of Passive Fire Protection), and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association).

And Psiu Sem Fio will innovate with a panic button for people with special needs. The device is built into a small plastic box containing the button protected by a glass that is easy to break. “In the event that a wheelchair user goes up to the third floor of a shopping mall and a fire breaks out, for example, a situation in which elevators are deactivated, the button would trigger the local security headquarters to carry out the rescue,” comments CEO José Rubens Almeida. Universities, stadiums, department stores, hospitals, and museums can also benefit from the device.

FISP, which takes place alongside the Fire Show – International Fire Faire, is expected to bring together around 700 exhibiting companies showcasing the most modern developments in worker safety and protection, as well as an audience of 40,000 professional visitors.
