With the readjustment of the work model, companies must pay attention to occupational health and safety rules that were set aside during the pandemic.
The solution adopted by all companies as a result of the Covid-19 crisis, working from home, will undergo a major transformation in the coming months, shifting from a necessity to an option for companies. Many have even signaled that they will maintain this work model.
With that, a lot of attention will be necessary since some new precautions will need to be taken by companies, especially regarding worker safety and health.
For Tatiana Gonçalves, partner at SST Home Office, many of the rules used by companies will have to be replicated in homes.
“Actions that were handled by few companies during the pandemic period will have to be replicated in the others, minimizing labor problems,” he explains.
OHS in the Home Office
Check out some rules, according to the expert:
• Workstation – it will be necessary to set up adequate structures for employees to work from home, taking into account location, furniture, and other facilities. Often, the company will have to bear part of these costs;
• Ergonomics – The company will need the support of professionals such as physical therapists to adapt the ergonomics, which provide comfort and health in the home office. Basic care helps ensure that the work routine is not harmful.
• Follow-up – the company must constantly monitor the worker, educating them to constantly check their home office furniture and self-evaluate their work posture, in order to see how they are working and identify symptoms such as pain and stress.
• Sanitization and organization – another important educational process that the company must apply to employees is regarding the care to keep work environments sanitized and organized, minimizing health problems, errors, and even an inadequate image in case of virtual meetings;
• Physical well-being guidance on posture and teachings on exercises that can relax the body from potential work-related stress will be essential.
“These are just the basic precautions that every company will have to take with workers during the work-from-home period. By taking some of these precautions, the company will already be safeguarded from a good portion of potential future problems,” concludes Tatiana Gonçalves.
