New explosion-resistant cameras help monitor critical environments

The monitoring of classified areas (subject to the formation of explosive atmospheres) requires specific resources that allow for more efficient management of operations in these environments. Among the products recently launched for this purpose are two cameras from Axis Communications, a Swedish manufacturer of network-connected devices.

The new fixed and PTZ camera options align with the growing need to use the video monitoring system to support decision-making beyond security.

The first of these is a fixed camera protected by a red aluminum housing for use in hazardous applications subject to explosions. The F101-A XF P1367 provides optimized images for forensic purposes, regardless of lighting conditions. It also offers exceptional light sensitivity and makes it possible to record color images in the dark.

The red color of the camera also has a functional reason, explains Sergio Fukushima, Solutions manager at Axis. “Our devices are used for both security purposes and monitoring operations. Therefore, it is important that people know where the network cameras are located in order to use them and signal operators in emergency situations.”

The second release is the XP40-Q1785 positioning camera, which is high-performance and robust. It features a stainless steel housing and was developed for safe operation in large and potentially combustible environments.

The camera offers the most comprehensive field of view possible thanks to its 32x optical zoom, 360° pan rotation, and 180° tilt movement. In addition, it is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures ranging from -60 °C to 60 °C. It also supports electronic image stabilization, allowing it to be used in environments with strong winds or vehicle traffic. With built-in long-lasting wipers, it is ideal for environments exposed to dirt, dust, and rain.
