The female labor force participation rate rose from 34.8% in 1990 to 52.2% in 2023 in Brazil. This increased participation, combined with companies\u2019 concern for this demographic, led them to introduce PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and specialized clothing designed specifically for women.<\/span><\/p>\n

A <\/span>JGB<\/b>, helping to highlight the breast cancer prevention campaign, painted its booth pink. The company offers gloves and apparel with designs tailored to women, providing more comfort and increasing the protection and self-esteem of those who wear them. In addition, it also offers apparel for pregnant women and items that cater to people with disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPreviously, there wasn\u2019t this market concern of meeting and adapting to what the user needs. We have been part of this process for over five years, offering adequate protection for everyone, since a garment with excess fabric can be harmful. There are already technical standards that separate male and female PPE, and there is a trend for them to be separated right from the approval stage,\u201d said Jos\u00e9 Geraldo Brasil, CEO of JGB.<\/span><\/p>\n

A <\/span>Pantaneiro Raincoats<\/b> it also features rain sets, cold-weather jackets, waterproof boots, and windbreakers for women. \u201cThe fit is more tailored. The highlights of the line include the sole resistant to fuel oil, slipping on ceramic and metal floors, as well as impact absorption in the heel area.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an obligation of ours, especially given their market share. The female foot requires a differentiated shape, respecting the differences it has, in both height and width, from the male foot. We took great care with the last, which is the soul of the footwear, offering a lighter product,\u201d states Fernando Oliveira, marketing manager.<\/span><\/p>\n

Technology becomes an ally to increase protection<\/b><\/p>\n

Libus, ID Safety<\/b> e <\/span>Universo Mob<\/b> they are three companies that exemplify how technology is a powerful tool to enhance the protection of people and, consequently, of businesses. Their booths showcased innovations during Fisp 2024 that maximize the efficiency of their solutions with implemented tools that were unthinkable until recently.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Narvalo Active Shield smart valve maximizes the user's breathing comfort through an adaptive respirator to reduce humidity and extract CO2, while also functioning as a mask that protects against nanoparticles. \u201cEveryone wore masks during the pandemic, and that was precisely the biggest difficulty. The increase in carbon dioxide is harmful to us and brings problems like fatigue,\u201d explains Nicol\u00e1s Bucher, marketing director at Libus, the company responsible for the product.<\/span><\/p>\n

The item features sensors that reveal data on the breathing pattern and, through a dedicated application, can communicate with other devices. \u201dIt is a smart valve for safe breathing, which even helps keep the internal temperature lower. It is the reduction of physical effort combined with increased productivity,\u201d Bucher adds.<\/span><\/p>\n

A <\/span>ID Safety<\/b> brought the new ID 106 Prescription Safety Glasses, which combine protection, comfort, innovative design, and customized lenses for each user, in addition to five new models from its Conventional Safety line. The company will also showcase an exclusive ID Fog anti-fog technology, which provides maximum visibility in any working condition.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have ID Pr\u00f3, a tool that allows us to fulfill all orders remotely for prescription eyewear users, just by sending a selfie and the prescription,\u201d states Gustavo Prado, the company\u2019s marketing manager.<\/span><\/p>\n

Already <\/span>Universo Mob<\/b> showcased its solutions to be tested during Fisp. The company features Mob Controle, which has been on the market for over 10 years and monitors all PPE delivery; and Mob Inspe\u00e7\u00e3o, which creates a checklist of all work items and requires all employees to inspect their equipment before use. Both operate with offline facial recognition, allowing access to anyone even without internet.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Finally, it also features Mob Conduta, which monitors people's activities and risks. \u201cWe can see who is wearing the wrong color or is without a helmet, who shouldn't be there, and generate risk alerts so that these actions don't happen again. Our solutions manage to prove their effectiveness in a real way so that everyone understands how much they gain by investing in safety,\u201d says Marcelo Sp\u00ednola, technology manager at Bunzl, the technology arm of Universo Mob.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What the award winners have to say<\/b><\/p>\n

For this edition, 43 companies were awarded the Seal. SafetyTec set aside a special space in its booth to welcome and honor the winners. Among the chosen companies, MG Cintos highlights the importance of receiving the seal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the second consecutive year that we have won the ConsultaCA seal. This is important because it demonstrates that our internal communication work with customers is having an effect. So, it turns out that the Consulta CA portal connects us and provides support for customers who have any questions, explains Tayer Taylor, marketing assistant at MG Cintos.<\/span><\/p>\n

For Yasmin Botelho, responsible for Marketing at JGB, a company with over 30 years of expertise in the manufacturing of personal protective equipment, receiving the seal is an important step for them. \u201cIt was the first time JGB received this seal. IBTeC gathers at Fisp 50 footwear companies whose products will be donated to the safety and protection industry<\/b><\/p>\n

The Brazilian Leather, Footwear and Artifacts Technology Institute (IBTeC) and Marluvas Professional Equipment \u201chit the start buttons\u201d for the fourth edition of the Model Safety Factory project at Fisp 2024. In a 700-square-meter space, in partnership with 50 other companies (manufacturers of machinery and equipment, suppliers of inputs, components, and production control systems), 600 pairs of shoes will be produced in four different models. They are:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Work shoes with a dual-density PU outsole and a lightweight, breathable polyester knit upper. Features a 50% hygienic insole made from recycled PET bottle plastic;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Work shoes with a dual-density PUC outsole and a cut-resistant knit upper. They also feature a 50% hygienic insole made from recycled PET bottles;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Dual-density PU safety footwear, featuring various sustainable and technological attributes in its composition \u2013 ecological heel counters made with recycled and natural fibers, non-woven lining for the vamp and sweat flap, and laminated assembly insoles made from PET bottle fibers, and an hygienic insole with part of its composition derived from PET bottle plastic;<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Dual-density PU safety footwear, featuring a microfiber upper with high-frequency applied TPU. It also includes a hygienic PU polyester insole, providing comfort and maximum safety.<\/span><\/p>\n

The beneficiaries of these shoe donations will be determined after the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe idealization of this model factory was only possible thanks to the government of Rio Grande do Sul, which covered the costs so that companies from Rio Grande do Sul could attend and bring their equipment and expertise to the event. The machinery companies are all from Rio Grande do Sul, so they were able to come because of this subsidy, comments Valdir Soldi, executive president of IBTeC.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOccupational safety is learned in the school environment, says MPT prosecutor<\/b><\/p>\n

This Wednesday (23), opening the schedule of the ABNT\/CB-32 Congress of the Brazilian Personal Protective Equipment Committee, which took place in the Technology and Innovation Auditorium during the 24th edition of Fisp, <\/span>Cirlene Luiza Zimmermann, prosecutor for the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT), delivered the lecture \u201cSafety and Health in Schools\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition aimed to demonstrate how possible and important it is to develop an occupational safety mindset starting in childhood. \u201cOccupational safety is learned in the school environment,\u201d she says.<\/span><\/p>\n

Using charts, Zimmermann exposed how the majority of work-related accidents happen to professionals between 18 and 25 years of age, that is, still at the beginning of their productive cycle. But if this professional enters the market already with a safety awareness, these numbers can drop.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the presentation, Zimmermann had the participation of Orlandino dos Santos, from Duque de Caxias, who in 1974 was Brazil's first occupational safety inspector and, more than 30 years later, conceived the <\/span>Law No. 12,645 of May 18, 2012, which established October 10 as the National School Safety and Health Day. \u201cMy dream is for Brazil to become a benchmark in accident prevention and occupational safety,\u201d said Orlandino.<\/span><\/p>\n

Business Roundtable holds 130 meetings on the second day<\/b><\/p>\n

The second day of the business roundtable at Fisp yielded around 130 meetings with more than 10 clients. This is the second experience at the fair for Chilean Patrick Akter, from the company Kuppel, who had previously attended in 2018. \u201cIt has been important because, besides footwear, I found several products of the highest quality, such as gloves and safety glasses,\u201d says Akter, who mentioned he is considering closing deals with four exhibitors at the fair.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another person taking advantage of the opportunity to expand their product portfolio is the Peruvian Mariano Bellido, from the company Professional Shoes, who was impressed by the innovations of the Brazilian exhibitors, such as the gloves for chefs. \u201cThis is perfect, as a large part of our clients consists of restaurants,\u201d Bellido celebrates. On his first visit to Brazil, he says his attendance at the next edition of the event is already guaranteed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lecture demystifies the use of AI in occupational safety<\/b><\/p>\n

Continuing the schedule of the 25th Cobrasemt (Brazilian Congress of Safety and Occupational Medicine), Eduardo Ferro, director of ABERGO (Brazilian Ergonomics Association), gave a lecture on \u201cThe AI Revolution in OHS \u2013 A Positive Reality,\u201d in which he avoided alarmism and outlined an optimistic overview of the use of AI in occupational safety.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The speaker opened by commenting on how Artificial Intelligence is portrayed in Hollywood cinema, citing science fiction films whose premise is that the tool would end the world, whereas, in his view, reality is much more consistent with the cartoon The Jetsons, \u201cwhere AI was used so that the characters could enjoy more family moments,\u201d he commented. Instead of machines that will take over the world, the panelist explained how Artificial Intelligence can not only replace human labor in functions considered risky, but also perform calculations that prevent accidents. \u201cWe have super complex systems, but we need tools that help us map, to transform this data into information,\u201d the speaker added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Illustrating how resistance to new technologies has always accompanied humanity's major innovations, a newspaper headline was projected on the screen featuring news of a protest in the US that gathered 6,000 teachers against the use of the calculator in 1986. To close, the following quote by the North American biologist Edward Osborne Wilson was cited: \u201cThe real problem of humanity is the following: we have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and godlike technology.\".<\/span><\/p>\n
