This year, around 700 exhibitors participated in the event, showcasing new technologies, products, and services in the occupational safety and health segment.<\/p>\n<p>The fair, which took place from October 3 to 5, is organized by Cipa Fiera Milano in partnership with Abraseg, Animaseg, and Sindiseg, and brings together more than 50,000 visitors every year. Simultaneously with the fair, the 13th Fire Show \u2013 International Fire Fair was held.<\/p>\n<p>FISP is established not only as a space where occupational safety and health professionals receive information on innovations and updates in the field, but also as a space to socialize important information in the world of work.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, in order to disseminate a culture of prevention, lectures on occupational safety and health were held at the opening of FISP 2018 (10\/3). With a classroom set up at the booth, there were lectures by Robson Spinelli Gomes to discuss the <strong>40 years of Regulatory Standards<\/strong>; F\u00e1bio Sperducci who approached the <strong>Introduction to Accident Analysis<\/strong> and Rog\u00e9rio Galv\u00e3o da Silva who spoke about <strong>Factors influencing decision-making for the improvement of occupational health and safety.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Addressing the 40 years of Regulatory Standards, Spinelli highlighted the importance of creating the standards, an important legal instrument for guaranteeing worker health and safety in the workplace. The Technical Director of Fundacentro also recalled the change regarding the use of the term unsafe act, which has been abolished by Fundacentro and the Ministry of Labor since the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>For Spinelli, the regulations were a major achievement for workers, but they need to be revised. As an example, he cites the guarantee of hazard pay, found in article 189 of the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) and used only in Brazil. \u201cInstead of paying hazard pay, we must invest in collective protection equipment as a way to guarantee workers\u201d safety,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>In a timeline from 1923 to 1944, Spinelli showed the participants the paths taken throughout history in the field of legislation, mentioning the creation of standards, the making of risk maps, and the creation of the Permanent Joint Tripartite Commission (CTPP) in May 2002.<\/p>\n<p>As future perspectives, Robson highlighted the influence of the political context on OSH and reinforced the need for a constant pursuit of updates in the field. \u201cOur country brings demands from an international context. We need to rescue solutions and alternatives to combat occupational accidents,\u201d he reinforced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accident concepts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the lecture: \u201cIntroduction to Accident Analysis\u201d, Fabio Sperduti, a civil engineer from the Work Process Safety Coordination, spoke about Heinrich's Theory, or the Domino Theory, which attributes the cause of a workplace accident to human error. According to Fabio, this theory is based on more traditional models, starting from the idea that the individual is to blame.<\/p>\n<p>Other authors such as Michel Llory, Sidney Dekker, and James Reason were introduced by the engineer as a way to reinforce the existing differences between traditional concepts and less traditional ones that evaluate the accident as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>For F\u00e1bio, regardless of existing concepts, a single analysis cannot be considered when an accident occurs, as this makes it difficult to arrive at the real reason and consider other causes that led to the accident. \u201cWhen the focus is on finding the culprit, prevention is forgotten,\u201d the engineer noted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manager motivation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Understanding which factors influence the decision-making of top company management to improve OHS is the main objective of the research conducted by Rogerio Galv\u00e3o da Silva, a researcher at the Work Process Security Coordination.<\/p>\n<p>In the final presentation of the fair\u2019s first day, the expert shared alarming statistics on accident prevention with the participants. In Brazil, 2.3 million deaths are work-related, resulting in a loss equivalent to 4% of global GDP, according to 2016 data from the ILO.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreventing accidents is no easy task,\u201d said Galv\u00e3o, defending the implementation of the project that began in 2018 and intends to reach different audiences as a way to raise the awareness of various social actors and deepen discussions in the OHS segment.<\/p>\n<p>The specialist emphasizes that the discussion on governmental instruments and determinants for the improvement of work environments is an ever-present item on the stakeholders' agenda in the face of the growing challenges of globalization, technological development, unemployment, and the precariousness of labor relations and conditions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fundacentro.gov.br\/noticias\/detalhe-da-noticia\/2018\/9\/representantes-do-sintesp-apoiam-pesquisa-dirigida-aos-tecnicos-de-seguranca-do-trabalho\" target=\"_blank\">Read more about <strong>Factors that influence decision-making for the improvement of occupational health and safety<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>CANPAT is highlighted at Ministry of Labor booth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Campaign for the Prevention of Occupational Accidents \u2013 CANPAT is an initiative developed by the Ministry of Labor, through the Secretariat of Labor Inspection \u2013 SIT.
