href=\"https:\/\/g1.globo.com\/tudo-sobre\/organizacao-mundial-de-saude\/\">OMS<\/a>) released, this Friday (5), new guidelines for the use and manufacture of cloth masks for protection against Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wall protected-content\">\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"26\" data-block-id=\"3\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container\" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">The entity expanded the circumstances in which masks must be used and detailed the materials that work best to contain the spread of the disease.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"4\" data-block-id=\"4\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container\" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">As\u00a0<strong>news<\/strong>\u00a0Recommendations are:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"96\" data-block-id=\"5\">\n<ul class=\"content-unordered-list\">\n<li><strong>O<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>use of masks by everyone\u00a0<\/strong>where there is widespread transmission of the disease and in situations where social distancing is not possible, such as on public transport;<\/li>\n<li>In areas\u00a0<strong>with community transmission<\/strong>, the recommendation is that\u00a0<strong>people aged 60 and over<\/strong>\u00a0or with pre-existing conditions\u00a0<strong>use medical masks<\/strong>\u00a0in situations where physical distancing is not possible;<\/li>\n<li>In areas with widespread transmission, WHO advises medical masks for\u00a0<strong>all people<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>who work in clinical areas<\/strong>\u00a0of a health unit, not just for workers dealing with Covid-19 patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"41\" data-block-id=\"6\">\n<blockquote class=\"content-blockquote theme-border-color-primary-before\"><p>\u201cThis means, for example, that when a doctor conducts a consultation in cardiology or palliative care units where there are no confirmed Covid-19 patients, they should still wear a medical mask,\u201d explained the organization's Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row such as respirators, for healthcare professionals who are close to procedures that generate aerosols (small droplets of saliva in the air).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"7\" data-block-id=\"10\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container\" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">As\u00a0<strong>Recommendations<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>previous<\/strong>\u00a0of the entity remain valid:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"106\" data-block-id=\"11\">\n<ul class=\"content-unordered-list\">\n<li>Sick people with Covid-19 symptoms must stay at home and consult a doctor;<\/li>\n<li>People with a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19 must be isolated and treated in a healthcare facility, and their contacts must be placed in quarantine;<\/li>\n<li>If it is absolutely necessary for a sick person or someone who has had contact with them to leave the house, they must wear a medical mask;<\/li>\n<li>People caring for an infected person at home should wear a medical mask while in the same room as the sick person;<\/li>\n<li>Healthcare professionals must use medical masks and other protective equipment when dealing with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"1\" data-block-id=\"12\">\n<div entity has released new guidelines on the\u00a0<strong>material\u00a0<\/strong>what should be made of\u00a0<strong>fabric masks:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"74\" data-block-id=\"15\">\n<ul class=\"content-unordered-list\">\n<li>Masks should ideally have,\u00a0<strong>at least three layers of fabric<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>The layer\u00a0<strong>exterior<\/strong>\u00a0it must be made of a material\u00a0<strong>water-resistant,\u00a0<\/strong>like polypropylene,\u00a0<strong>polyester<\/strong>\u00a0or a mixture of them;<\/li>\n<li>The layer of\u00a0<strong>medium must act as a filter<\/strong>\u00a0and it can be made of a synthetic material, such as polypropylene, or an extra layer of cotton;<\/li>\n<li>The layer\u00a0<strong>interior<\/strong>\u00a0it must be made of a material that\u00a0<strong>absorb water like masks:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"140\" data-block-id=\"20\">\n<ul class=\"content-unordered-list\">\n<li>Before using the mask,\u00a0<strong>Wash your hands with soap and water\u00a0<\/strong>or you use hand sanitizer;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Examine\u00a0<\/strong>the mask before putting it on:\u00a0<strong>if it is damaged or dirty, do not use<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Put the mask on so that it\u00a0<strong>cover your mouth, nose and chin<\/strong>.
