Part of the FISP content schedule, the Brazilian Congress of Occupational Safety and Medicine takes place at São Paulo Expo and covers a wide variety of topics in the field.
São Paulo, September 2024 – Between October 22 and 24, the 25th edition of COBRASEMT, the Brazilian Congress of Occupational Safety and Medicine, will take place in São Paulo. The event, which is part of Fisp — International Fair of Safety and Protection, brings together the country's leading prevention organizations. It is jointly organized by ABRASEG and ANIMASEG, with institutional support and partnerships from various entities.
“Our plan is to offer a very diverse schedule, forming a broad overview of the current problems and challenges in the safety sector,” states Raul Casanova Junior, executive director of ANIMASEG and ABRASEG. “The panels and debates range from general topics that impact everyone to specific issues in each of the different branches of the field.”
The congress was founded in 1974 and took place for many years, until it stopped being organized, returning now in its 25th edition. “The idea of this revival was precisely to bring together the largest possible number of entities in the sector, in order to raise awareness of the various approaches to occupational health and safety management, in an integrated vision,” he explains. “We want to provide participants with knowledge of the most current issues, obtaining insights and experiences to implement strategies for prevention purposes, avoiding accidents and occupational diseases.”
The following entities are participating in the 25th COBRASEMT: ABERGO, ABHO, ABRAPHISET, ABRASEG, ABRATEST, ABRESST, AISOHMEX-BR, ANAMT, ANATEST, ANDEST, ANEST, ANIMASEG, FENATEST, IBAPE, and OBESST.
The schedule runs from October 22 to 24 and brings together conferences, lectures, panel discussions, and debates. Following the opening ceremony and a tribute session starting at 2:00 PM, the first keynote conference will take place at 3:30 PM: “Defense of the Work Environment and the Promotion of Workers” Health,” featuring Dr. Cirlene Luiza Zimmermann, national coordinator of CODEMAT/MPT.

Congress is part of FISP – International Trade Fair for Safety and Protection, a traditional industry event reaching its 24th edition. Organized by Fiera Milano Brasil in partnership with ABRASEG and ANIMASEG, the FISP expects to receive, along with Fire Show – International Fire Fair, approximately 50,000 visitors, including professionals from various sectors such as nursing, occupational physicians, psychologists, speech therapists, occupational safety engineers and technicians, risk inspectors, asset security personnel, internal accident prevention committee (CIPA) members, firefighters, managers, directors, and buyers, among others. There are around 700 exhibitors spread across 42,000m²2 exhibition area.
The scope of the program and the size of the trade fair reflect the growing importance of the personal protective equipment, safety, and occupational medicine market. Data released by ANIMASEG at the end of 2023 indicate a strong recovery in the sector, which has been growing almost constantly (showing a slight retraction only in 2022) in recent years:
